The nominees for the 31st annual James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony will determine the best of American gastronomy- have been announced.

The James Beard Foundation Awards have been held in memory of American chef, cookbook author, and teacher James Andrews Beard since 1986. The best gastronomy professionals in America are rewarded at the annual award ceremony every year. The award ceremony will be held on June 13 at the Chicago Lyric Opera, celebrating its 37th anniversary.

This year, the foundation has also resumed separate events for food journalism and media award nominees for the first time. The finalists in the Media categories, like cookbook and journalism, will be announced on April 27. The 2022 media winners will be announced at a live ceremony on June 11 at Columbia College Chicago.
