The last award announcement before The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 ceremony was made. The Icon Award 2022 went to Kenyan nutritionist Wawira Njiru, founder and director of the nonprofit Food for Education. The award was given to Njiru for making an internationally recognized contribution to the food world and using her platform to raise awareness and drive positive change.

Njiru, with the organization Food for Education, provides 40,000 Kenyan children a day to reach food at school. To date, Food for Education has delivered 7 million meals to schools in Kenya.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 awards ceremony will be held in London on July 18, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.
