Takayoshi Watanabe was born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1977. After graduating from university, he had been trained as a chef for three years, then joined his family owned sushi restaurant “Teruzushi “, which was started by his grandmother 60 years ago.
In 2013, he succeeded in Teruzushi as the Owner Chef, and made a start of innovation. He boosted the quality of the sea food of the restaurant and used excellent local fish. He introduced the world’s first sushi counter experience, evolving into entertainment.
In 2018, he was appointed “Kitakyushu City Tourism Ambassador” in recognition of his actions.
In 2019 and 2020, he appeared at the MasterCard event in New York for 3 months in total with one full page advertisement on New York Times, the event had been fully booked. This helped him to break outside Japan.
In 2020, he was selected as a Cooking Masters, a Japanese government chef award program. He has been invited to several events recently such as Milan Collection, Madrid Fusion, Singapore F1, and etc. He opened his first overseas restaurant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2023.
