Raymond Blanc, owner and chef of the 2 Michelin-starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons restaurant, has begun the fight with his insurance firm to cover coronavirus damages.

The failure of insurance companies to cover the damage caused by coronavirus caused a backlash by many chiefs. The challenge included Raymond Blanc, the famous French chef and owner of the 2 Michelin-starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons restaurant. Blanc’s company, which employs 1400 people, was able to make a claim based on the ‘infectious disease’ clause in its contract. The successful chief’s insurance firm Hiscox said in response that its policies are not “designed or priced to cover the extraordinary circumstances” caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Celebrity chef Blanc said: “We are eager to reopen. We have a good, solid business that we have grown over 20 years.” he said.
