A common statement between the UK and France announced last night has confirmed that although there will be a quarantine imposed on people travelling to the UK by air, no quarantine measures will apply to travellers coming from France at this stage.
The announcement said Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron agreed to work mutually in taking forward suitable border measures and that any measures on either side would be taken in a “concerted and reciprocal manner”. A working group between the two governments will be set up to ensure this consultation throughout the coming weeks. Speaking to the nation last night, Boris Johnson said: “To prevent re-infection from abroad, I am serving notice that it will soon be the time to impose quarantine on people coming into this country by air.”
It also announced that some hospitality businesses could start opening from July, providing slight relief in quarantine restrictions, The Caterer reported. People who cannot work from home have been encouraged to return to workplaces, “unlimited exercise” will be allowed among family and shops and schools will be phased out from June. More details will be announced today.
