According to a recent survey by the National Restaurant Association, in the sixth month of the COVID-19 crisis, nearly 1 in 6 restaurants or 100,000 restaurants in the United States closed permanently or long-term.
The survey asked restaurant operators about the impact of the pandemic on their businesses over the past six months. Other findings in the report show that consumer spending at restaurants is still low, while the foodservice industry is likely to lose $ 240 billion this year. 40% of the operators said they were unlikely to still be in business six months from now without the help of an additional stimulus package from the government.
According to the news on the Eater, while the NRA’s statement did not explicitly specify how many people were included in the survey, the organization reportedly had more than 40,000 members, and its previous surveys had received responses from 3,800 to 6,500 restaurant operators during the pandemic.
