Michelin-starred Maydān and Compass Rose owners Rose Previte and Mike Schuster’s Middle Eastern joint menu concept Tawle will be presented this summer at 2911 District Avenue, Suite 140, in Fairfax’s Mosaic District. Tawle, a restaurant named after the common menu Maydān offered for takeaway during the pandemic, means “table” in Arabic. To that end, Tawle will feature family-style meals in addition to prix fix, à la carte options, and more Egyptian influences. Omar Hegazi will be executive chef at both Tawle locations.
Maydān’s team previously performed at Tishman Speyer’s new downtown D.C. this year. announced plans to open Tawle in the Market on International Square (1850 K Street, NW), the dining hall. According to Tysons Reporter, the standalone Mosaic Zone location will open first. Tawle will replace Jinya Ramen, a chain cafe specializing in ramen.
