With a unique gastronomic scene, Madrid will host the presentation of the Spain & Portugal MICHELIN Guide for the third time.
Hosted the presentation of the Spain and Portugal MICHELIN Guide in 2010 and 2013, Madrid was chosen to host the event again on 30 November 2021 because of its unique tourism and extensive gastronomic opportunities. This special event will bring together the best of the industry who are eager to hear the results of the hard work of the MICHELIN Guidelines inspectors.
Madrid’s mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida said, “For Madrid it’s an honor to host [this presentation]. [Madrid] was chosen for the city and the hospitality sector’s commitment to quality food. There’s a reason why one of the city’s greatest appeals is its gastronomy, which is diverse, quality and constantly evolving. Madrid has more than 3,000 locales in which to enjoy a never-ending variety of foods, from traditional bars and modern restaurants to alternative spaces and restaurants run by top chefs. They all help make Madrid one of the leading food destinations.”
The International Director of MICHELIN Guides, Gwendal Poullennec said, “The MICHELIN Guide’s raison d’être is to recommend restaurants that are the soul of our cities and communities. In these unprecedented times, our mission is to reconnect diners with restaurants. The selected restaurants will be fair and consistent for 2021.”
