While studying physics and biology at university in Montréal, Québec, Jonny Lake started
cooking while volunteering for the charity Santropol Roulant. His love for cooking and
feeding others led him to pursue a career as a chef. He trained at the Institut de Tourisme et
d’Hôtellerie du Québec, then worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in Liguria, Italy, and
with legendary Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi at L’Albereta in Lombardy.
Moving to the UK in 2005 to work at The Fat Duck, Lake became Head Chef and then
Executive Head Chef of The Fat Duck Group in 2009. In 2018, the chef left the restaurant
and founded Trivet Restaurant with Isa Bal. Located in London, the restaurant was awarded
2 Michelin stars in the Great Britain & Ireland 2024 Michelin Guide.
