Jason Atherton is planning to open a ‘flagship restaurant’ in Mayfair. The restaurateur, who’s currently behind six restaurants in London,
Row on 5 will take over two floors of a new building on Savile Row. The concept is “a culinary voyage” involving a multi-course dining experience. On the ground floor, there’s a mix of counter dining and tables for 36 diners. Downstairs there’s an open kitchen and bar and room for 22 more diners, along with a private dining room – or cellar – with eight seats.
Back when Atherton closed The Betterment he told hospitality industry title Code that “now’s the time to move on and focus on The Social Company. We have new openings to work on.” Savile Row sounds like a dream location for restaurateur Atherton whose love of bespoke tailoring is well-documented. He once told the South China Morning Post “I like to go to Savile Row and sit for four hours talking about fabric, stitching and lining”.
We’re intrigued that this is being described as ‘flagship’ when previously that’s been the description for Atherton’s main Michelin-starred restaurant Pollen Street Social. Obviously, things are only in the early planning stages yet so we’ll bring you more news as we get it.
