Food for Soul, the non-profit organisation founded by Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, has won the Compasso d’Oro, a top Italian design award, for its aesthetic and social design achievements.

The first post-pandemic Compasso d’Oro awards were held at the headquarters of the new ADI Design Museum in Milan, and among the many design excellences recognised was world-renowned Michelin starred chef Bottura’s Food for Soul organisation. The non-profit he founded together with his wife Lara during the 2015 Expo in Milan has gone on to serve millions of meals to the needy, bringing together the worlds of fine dining and social activism, in a beautiful and convivial way.

Throughout the years of work relieving hunger and food poverty, Food for Soul has made a point of setting up camp in central locations of historical and cultural significance, collaborating with architects, designers and artists, Fine Dining Lovers reported.

The Compasso d’Oro, an industrial design award, recognises that design goes beyond the mere creation of products, but rather serves a social function and utility. Food for Soul brings food, art, design and activism together.
