Danile Boulud, one of the world’s most famous chefs and restaurateurs, is finally moving to Los Angeles. Boulud, who has a huge fan base in New York with the eponymous two Michelin-starred Daniel, will invest millions of dollars in his Los Angeles restaurant.

Daniel Boulud will purchase a large estate in Beverly Hills for the project. The project is led by SHVO, known for its investments in New York, Miami and beyond, including the Transamerica Pyramid building in San Francisco. Daniel Boulud’s LA restaurant will be close to iconic venues such as Spago, Rodeo Drive and the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons.

“My love and relationship with Los Angeles started a long time ago,” said Boulud and declined to offer specifics about the restaurant. “I visited for the first time maybe 30 years ago, and I always told Wolfgang [Puck] that if he opened in New York then I would open in Los Angeles.” Puck opened his upscale steakhouse Cut in NYC’s Financial District in 2016.

Boulud likens Los Angeles to the south of France and says that his first Los Angeles project will be “casual, but with the status of a very nice restaurant.” Boulud’s arrival in Los Angeles is big news not just for fans of French cuisine, but especially for Beverly Hills.
