YiQi, a pan-Asian restaurant concept, has officially opened its first site at 14 Lisle Street in the center of Chinatown London, YiQi’s menu offers a dynamic dining experience by celebrating a variety of cuisines from across the ESEA region. Chef Lum Wah Cheok, who has experience working at renowned restaurants Hakkasan and Yauatcha, has produced recipes and techniques for a wide range of meals, including fragrant South East Asian delicacies, cozy regional Chinese favorites, Korean classics, and Japanese art-like dishes.
Signature dishes include YiQi’s fried cordyceps flower salad, nyonya pandan chicken, charcoal grilled beef short ribs, and skate fish with yuzu, alongside a unique dessert of wagyu mousse. YiQi’s debut showcases innovative cooking methods, from Sous Vide to Teppanyaki and Binchotan, a form of grill cooking using the most revered charcoal in the world.
The Chinatown London restaurant’s décor, which combines wood, rattan, and the renowned abacus to enhance the dining experience, aims to evoke a feeling of cozy cultural richness.
“The opening of YiQi’s debut restaurant is a brilliant way to start 2024, and is indicative of the unique experiences we look to introduce to Chinatown London,” said Andrew Price, executive director at Shaftesbury Capital. We are constantly searching for unique and imaginative new Asian concepts to introduce to the location, and YiQi is a wonderful addition to our ESEA food center because it celebrates centuries of culinary legacy while combining innovation.
