Mexican chef, entrepreneur and writer Fany Gerson announced the closure of her sweets shop famous for its ice creams and ‘paletas’, La Newyorkina where she brings Mexican candy to New Yorkers.

Gerson stated that business is stagnant due to COVID-19 restrictions and all the restaurants that serve her desserts are closed. She concluded her statement with the words “We close with hopes and plans to re-open somewhere else at some point and the dream doesn’t end but simply shifts.” La Newyorkina will close permanently in January while Fany Gerson continues make her products available in her shop Fan Fan Doughnuts.
