Food supplier Belazu hosts a virtual vegetarian banquet on May 29 with chefs including Yotam Ottolenghi, Angela Hartnett, Jeremy Lee and Thomasina Miers to raise funds for the Belazu Foundation and its charity partner, Chefs in Schools.
Chefs in Schools established an emergency fund during the lockdown to support households with hungry children, the number of which doubled during the coronavirus epidemic, leaving more than one-fifth of the households without access to enough food. Each ticket sold for the virtual vegetarian banquet will provide 60 meals to struggling families. At the virtual event, everyone who buys tickets will receive a box containing all the ingredients they will need for dinner and a web link to join the virtual dining experience. The box includes Ottolenghi’s hummus, Pizza Pilgrims’ flatbread, Josh Katz’s signature dish cauliflower shawarma and Jeremy Lee’s raspberry and ricotta pudding. The event will include Michelin-starred chef and writer Yotam Ottolenghi, Michelin-starred chef and restauranteur Angela Hartnett, renowned bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana, Thomasina Miers, co-founder of Wahaca; Jeremy Lee from Quo Vadis restaurant; Josh Katz from Berber & Q restaurant; Helen Graham from Bubala restaurant; Ramael Scully of Scully’s; and James Elliott from Pizza Pilgrims.
