Successful chef Anthony Myint won the Basque Culinary World Prize, one of the most important awards in the field of gastronomy. Myint, which competed with the Mission Chinese Food restaurant in San Francisco, came to the forefront with the Perennial Farming Initiative, which helped to promote sustainable agriculture through the ZeroFoodprint project, which helps reduce carbon footprints or carbon neutralization in restaurants.
Joan Roca, Chair of the Prize Jury, said: “Instead of contributing to the problem of climate change, gastronomy can be a part of the solution. Anthony Myint calls for action beyond concrete awareness. It makes us part of change with collective work awareness.”
In addition, Chief Anthony Myint Earns 100,000 Euros for climate change studies.
Anthony Myint said that: “I believe that the world will become a better place, and especially after becoming a parent, I started researching what chefs will do about climate change. It is a fact confirmed by climate change scientists. Healthy soils and good agriculture can solve global warming. I am very happy and really excited that the Basque Culinary World Prize draws attention to optimistic solutions. I am proud to represent a great beginning. I believe that chefs, restaurants, farmers and politicians will come together to create a renewable food system.”
