Spencer Metzger discovered his passion for cooking during an internship at The Ritz
at the age of 15, leading to a career marked by significant achievements. After
training at Bournemouth and Poole College, he gained valuable experience at
L’Enclume in Cumbria and Frantzén in Stockholm. These experiences culminated in
winning the prestigious Roux Scholarship in 2019 and being appointed Head Chef at
The Ritz in July 2021.
After 13 years at The Ritz, Spencer joined Jason Atherton to launch Row on 45 in
Dubai in August 2023. The restaurant has since garnered numerous accolades,
including Gault&Millau’s ‘Breakthrough Restaurant of the Year’ and a spot on
MENA’s 50 Best list. This year, Spencer returns to London to lead the launch of Row
on 5 on Savile Row as Executive Chef.
