Born and raised in Ankara, Ahmet Dede was inspired by his mother’s cooking and fell in love with Turkish cuisine and cooking. At the age of 25, Dede moved to Ireland to study Culinary Arts, where he worked in the best restaurants such as Chapter One, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud and The Greenhouse. After working at the 2 Michelin starred Moshik’s Place in Amsterdam, Dede moved back to Ireland in 2017. He worked as head chef at The Mew’s Restaurant in Baltimore, Cork, where he was named ‘The Wild Chef’. Dede, who received his first Michelin star here in 2018. When The Mew’s closed, he opened his own restaurant ‘dede’ in 2020. Which was awarded one Michelin star in it’s opening year, in 2023, he received his second Michelin star. In addition, Dede was awarded the ‘Best Chef In Ireland’ and ‘Best Restaurant In Ireland’ awards in both 2022 and 2023 by Food & Wine Magazine Ireland and the Restaurant Association of Ireland.
