What is it with London’s Michelin-starred chefs. Not content with having at least one big new project on the go, they’re already planning more openings before they’ve opened the doors on their latest. In addition to Claude Bosi with his two new restaurants, we now have Tom Sellers going big for 2023. Alongside his upcoming Dovetale at the 1 Hotel Mayfair, he’s opening another new restaurant, this time in Covent Garden.

Story Cellar, a reference to his main Restaurant Story at Tower Bridge (and, of course, his own name) will be, we’re told, “a Parisian-inspired rotisserie style restaurant”. On the corner of Shorts Gardens and Neals Yard, it will focus on rotisserie chicken and top wine served by the Coravin system (so you’ll have many more by-the-glass options).

The menu, which is much more extensive than we first thought, features (alongside the rotisserie chicken, whole or half):

Snail bolognaise on toast with wild garlic butter
Mussels in “Story” cider and fries
Dorset crab linguine
Whole Dover sole, brown shrimps, capers and parsely
Dry-aged pork chops and brandy pickled dates
Brown sugar brulee
Preserved rhubarb and pistachio trifle
It’s a tiny space – mostly laid out to counter dining with some more tables downstairs by the wine cellar.

To tie in with the opening of Story Cellar, the main Restaurant Story is also going to get a do-over. The big news there will be the addition of a whole new upstairs dining area along with outside seating too.
