Natasha Boshoff is the 2022 Winner of the Bartlett Mitchell Barista Championship (BMBC) held at Brentford Community Stadium on July 29.
Boshoff, who has been the operations manager under the supervision of many BM facilities in the South East since April, impressed the jury members with the attention she gave to the taste profiles of the drinks she offered.
Speaking about her win, Boshoff said: “I’m pretty happy. It came as a surprise to me because frankly I’m not a barista, I entered this competition to support my team. I can now taste the flavours of espresso, so I’ve learned a lot throughout this experience and made new friends.
According to the concept of the competition, contestants had to make four drinks (two single espressos and two single shot milk-based beverages) in seven minutes in the first round and six drinks in 10 minutes in the second round. Boshoff won the competition, beating the five candidates tasked with delivering 12 drinks in 15 minutes.
Miguel Camara, Head of Coffee & Tea from BM said: “It’s incredible to be able to get back to these events after recent difficult times. The most astonishing thing to me was the quality and the calibre of the competitors this year. Our coffee is in good hands.”
