The Ritz’s Head Chef Spencer Metzger has just been crowned champion of champions at this year’s Great British Menu at Alexandra Palace in celebration of 100 years of British broadcasting. In finals week, Metzger became one of only a few chefs in the history of the competition to win two dishes to serve at the banquet with the theme “100 years of British broadcasting”.
29-year-old Spencer first entered the kitchen at the Ritz, when he was 15. He worked in 3 Michelin starred L’Enclume in Cumbria and 3 Michelin starred Frantzén in Stockholm. Spencer Metzger has climbed up through the ranks winning the Roux Scholarship in 2019 and being awarded The Caterer’s Acorn Award, celebrating the industry’s brightest talents under 30.
