Chef-restaurateur Nuno Mendes will open his last Portuguese restaurant, Lisboeta, in London’s Fitzrovia in spring 2022. Known for his role as executive chef at the Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, Mendes is also creative director of food and beverage at the Bairro Alto hotel in Lisbon and oversees the menu at Rose in Deal, Kent.
Lisboeta will span three floors, with a café on the ground floor with a long, seated bar built from repurposed tram wood and clad in Lisbon-sourced limestone. The upstairs dining room will have banquet seating for lunch and dinner. Opening later in the year, ‘Adega’ will overlook the glass-fronted kitchen and wine cellar in the basement. Mendes said, “Lisboeta is my love letter to Lisbon, the city I grew up in and my home. I am excited to share everything that makes London such a special city. Lisboeta represents the spirit of Lisbon. The young, vibrant food culture of my home, its products, I will showcase its wine and gastronomic heritage in a fun and thoughtful way.” said.
