The Michelin Guide Kyoto Osaka 2022 has announced 16 new one-star restaurants, eight in Osaka and eight in Kyoto. Restaurant Numata in Osaka received two stars. While the restaurant focuses on the Japanese dish called “tempora”, other restaurants known for their Japanese, French and Italian cuisine.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said: “Kyoto and Osaka are both fascinating and striking. They have been global gastronomic references for a long time. From the highly specialized ramen corner shop to the very high-class gastronomic table, gourmets from all over the world can enjoy and choose from a unique range of cuisines that few destinations can offer.”
Both cities have many starred restaurants. Kyoto has six three-star, 19 two-star and 83 one-star restaurants, while Osaka has 3 three-star, 11 two-star and 82 one-star restaurants.
