Michelin Guide awarded two more restaurants from Budapest with stars. Essencia and Salt are now among the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
Gewndal Pullennec, the international director of the Michelin Guide, paid homage to Hungarian culinary traditions, saying that both restaurants are “marvelous examples of Budapest’s dynamic restaurant sphere.” The Michelin Guide describes Essencia, run by Portuguese chef Tiago Sabarigo and his Hungarian wife Eva, as “a bright, warmly run and deliciously different restaurant.” Led by Chef Szilard Toth, he praises Salt for its “inctricate, exquisitely constructed” dishes. After these two restaurants, the number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the Hungarian capital increased to seven. Other restaurants; Babel, Borkonyha Winekitchen, Costes, Costes Downtown and Stand.
