Following its expansion to Beijing, Slovenia and California, Michelin announced that it will share its new guide, Michelin Guide Moscow, in 2021.

Stating that Moscow restaurants have been living their own Renaissance in recent years, the Michelin group said “The Russian culinary scene has seen new trends appear over the past 30 years, embodied by talented chefs who are committed to enhancing the quality of local products” during the press release.

Russian cuisine was talked about a lot this year due to the tension it had with Ukraine over the demand for “borscht”, a traditional soup made with beetroot and cabbage, to be added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Moscow, Russia’s emerging gastronomy scene with restaurants already mentioned in prestigious sources such as World’s 50 Best, will obtain its first stars next year.
