The Michelin Guide Taipei & Taichung 2020, bringing the third edition of the Taipei Guide and the first Taichung Guide to food lovers, was announced on Monday, August 24.

In the 2020 edition of the Michelin Guide Taipei & Taichung announced on Monday, a total of 226 restaurants have been selected, including 30 which have been awarded at least one Michelin star and 75 which have been chosen as Michelin Bib Gourmand establishments. In the latest edition, Taipei has 26 restaurants that have received at least one star, while 54 have been selected as Bib Gourmand restaurants. In Taipei, four restaurants were awarded new ratings, and Cantonese restaurant Le Palais remained the city’s only restaurant with three Michelin stars, the highest possible rating. According to Focus Taiwan, Taipei is now home to six two-star restaurants and 19 one-star restaurants, three of which were newly named this year. In Taichung, the Singaporean restaurant JL Studios, helmed by chef Jimmy Lim Tyan Yaw, debuted at two stars. The three other restaurants in Taichung debuted with one star each. In addition, 31 restaurants in Taichung have been designated as being a Michelin Plate winner, while 21 other eateries have received the Bib Gourmand award.
