Peruvian cuisine is mourning the loss of Peruvian-Japanese chef Ciro Watanabe last Friday night.

A source close to the family told AFP about Watanabe’s loss, “He has died of bleeding after an operation on his stomach. It is a great loss” Watanabe, who has had many successes in his career, was for years the image of this famous Peruvian restaurant chain known in the country as OSK Peru, one of the most prestigious restaurants of the gastronomic scene in recent years. World-renowned chef Watanabe returned a few months ago from Chile, where he moved in 2009 to promote Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine.
