French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced 2 day ago that bars and restaurants would reopen nationally from next week, although Paris will need careful monitoring despite no longer being a virus hotspot.

Despite the lifting of the ban on travelling more than 100 kilometres, the ban on gathering more than 10 people continues. Prime Minister Philippe said the capital was in the ‘orange zone’ on the risk map. However, nearly all other French regions have a “green” status, meaning that they are more virus-free. It means the easing of restrictions in the Paris region would be more careful, Mr Philippe said., adding that eating and drinking establishments in the city will only be able to serve customers on outside terraces, BBC reported. In the rest of the country, cafes, bars and restaurants will reopen from next week with restrictions. Museums and monuments across the country, including Paris, would reopen from 2 June, it has been announced.
